Here’s vegetable and starch in a tasty side dish to go with whatever you’re cooking on the grill.

3  strips bacon, cut up
          Medium onion, diced
          2 large cans cut green beans and potatoes, drained
          1 teaspoon sugar
          1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (or more to taste)
          Freshly ground pepper to taste

Fry out the bacon in a large skillet or wok until crisp bits form. Stir onion into the pan, softening it in the hot grease. Stir in  green beans and potatoes to coat them with bacon bits and fat. Sprinkle with sugar and balsamic vinegar. Pass the pepper mill. Serves 4 to 6.
