Hot Pot Dogs

Here’s a way to make hot dogs in one pot on one burner. Buy the best wieners and buns, then have the buttered buns ready. To save time, put all the sauce ingredients in a jar at home and keep on ice. The sauce is thick and burns easily, so keep the heat low and slow.

8 hot dogs

8 hotdog buns, split and buttered

cup ketchup

Small onion, finely diced

1/4 cup salsa (hot, medium or mild)

1 teaspoon dry mustard (such as Coleman’s)

1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce

2 tablespoons each soy sauce, vinegar, sugar

Set aside hot dogs and buns. Bring remaining ingredients to a low boil, reduce heat and add hot dogs. Cover and cook over low heat until hot dogs are plump.   Pop the heated dogs into the buns and spoon on extra sauce. Makes 8 hot dogs.
