PDQ 32 POWER CAT
JOINS SOUTHWEST FLORIDA YACHTS’ CHARTER FLEET
Cape Coral, Florida –January 29, 2014—Southwest Florida Yachts has added the PDQ 32 Power Cat Authenticity to its power and sail charter fleet for cruising the southwest Florida gulf coast, including the scenic Pine Island-Sanibel-Captiva area.
“With a draft of just 28-inches, Authenticity is perfect for exploring the many anchorages that allow cruisers to fully enjoy the splendor of our coast,” said Barb Hansen of Southwest Florida Yachts. In addition to power and sail charters, the company offers sail and power classes, as well as brokerage services. Southwest Florida Yachts recently added a Yacht Watch service offering management and maintenance for yachts moored at its headquarters, Tarpon Point Marina.
The 32-foot Authenticity has a large main salon, two queen-sized cabins and head plus a stereo with CD player and DVD-player equipped color television. Power comes via twin, 75-hp Yanmar diesels and Authenticity also has a diesel-powered generator, refrigerator and icemaker, air conditioning and heat. Navigational aids include a Raytheon GPS and radar.
Weekly charter rates for Authenticity are $4499 during the winter season and $3601 during the summer. Hansen noted winter charters of three days or longer through April 30 earn one free cruising day as part of the company’s 30th anniversary in 2014. Three day or longer summer charters earn two free days of cruising.
Southwest Florida is continually ranked as one of the world’s best cruising and sailing areas. Visitors cite the barrier islands of Sanibel and Captiva as the best islands to visit for their ambiance, beaches, friendliness, restaurants and scenery.

ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING CENTER - GUIDED BOAT EXCURSIONS
Wabasso Island, FL – Exploring the Indian River Lagoon, Pelican Island, and the St. Sebastian River aboard the Environmental Learning Center’s pontoon boat, also known as a “floating classroom,” is an up close and personal way of learning about and appreciating one of the most diverse environments in North America.
Excursions sail from the ELC on Wabasso Island into the Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge. Separate morning and afternoon trips give participants the opportunity to see the bird species that nest, rest, and feed on Pelican Island at close range. The onboard guide identifies the species encountered, discusses the ecology of the Lagoon, and how it might be preserved. Brown and white pelicans, egret, ibis, kingfishers, and herons are often on the island or nearby. Migrating birds gather on the mangrove islands, and manatees and dolphins may be seen throughout the trip. The fee for this excursion is $25 per adult and $10 per child ($2 less for members and their children).
The St. Sebastian River boat excursion explores the south prong of the Sebastian River. This aquatic preserve is part of the Indian River Lagoon watershed. The trip is guided by an ELC Naturalist who will point out the natural wonders of the area. Lucky boaters may spot alligators, wading birds, eagles, ospreys, and manatees. The fee for this adventure is $28 per adult and $14 per child ($2 less for members and their children).
The schedule of the various boating excursions is available on the ELC’s web site, www.DiscoverELC.org. Reservations, may be made by calling the ELC at (772) 589-5050.
