FISHERMEN’S VILLAGE TO HOST 2nd ANNUAL NATURE FEST AND OUTDOOR RECREATION EXPO

FISHERMEN’S VILLAGE will host their 2nd ANNUAL “NATURE FEST AND OUTDOOR RECREATION EXPO” in recognition of National Marina Day. The Expo will be held Saturday, June 8th, 10 am until 6 p.m. at Fishermen’s Village, located off Marion Avenue in Punta Gorda.  The event is free of charge and the public is encouraged to attend.

The purpose of the Expo is to present informative displays by local and regional facilities and organizations dedicated to assistance, preservation and education related to the environment and natural habitat of Charlotte Harbor.  Representatives will be available to answer questions and provide educational materials on a variety of outdoor recreational activities. Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center will be doing a “Nature Walk Along the Harbor” at 10:30am.  Live music will be presented by Gator DJ, Center Stage, 11 am-3 pm.

Participating Organizations and businesses include:  Holidaze Boat Rentals, King Fisher Fleet, Babcock Wilderness Adventures , Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary,  Florida Dept. of Environmental Protection, Lions, Tigers & Bears, Cruise Planners AE, Water Life Magazine,  Don Ball School of Fishing for 7th Graders, US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 98 CH, Port Charlotte Yacht Club, Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center, B&D Crafts Solar Lights, and Mote Marine Aquarium Mobile Lab.

FISHERMEN’S VILLAGE TO HOST ANNUAL 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION

Thursday,  July 4th, 2013, Fishermen’s Village will host their annual 4th of July Celebration.  Admission and parking are free and the public is cordially invited to attend.

Family friendly activities begin at 11 am and include “Metamasque” face painting and Jeff the Juggler.  Village Restaurants will offer dining specials.

The annual 4th of July Freedom Swim starts on the north side of the southbound US 41 bridge and ends at Harpoon Harry’s in Fishermen’s Village.  Swim Start time:  12 Noon.  It is recommended participants be at the starting point no later than 11:30 a.m. The Green Hibiscus Trolley will provide transportation between Fishermen’s Village and the Swim starting point beginning at 11 am and continuing until 4 pm.

Live music will be presented on the Village Center Stage featuring “Beans and Seeds” 11 am-3 pm and “Mercy” 5-9 pm.  Viewing of the annual July 4th fireworks display over Charlotte Harbor begins at 9 pm.

The Environmental Learning Center in Vero Beach has fun educational adventures set for kids from Pre-K to High School during the Summer. There are seven camp programs running for a week or two.
