BOATYARD NEWS IN NORTH PALM BEACH
Two well-known names in the boatyard business are becoming “next-door neighbors in Palm Beach Gardens” on our Chart 7 in the North Palm Beach area.
Michael Rybovich has purchased E&H Boat Works which will be named Michael Rybovich & Sons Boatworks and Chris Hodge (who worked for many years with his Dad in their family business) will continue the E&H yard with The Ways as E&H/The Ways.
The new Rybovich yard does not yet have a phone number but we’ll print it here as soon as it becomes available. The old E&H phone will still work for E&H/The Ways as well as another phone: 561-622-8582.
You can pencil this in on Chart 7, page 61, in the new print version of the FCD.
Two Finds (new-to-us) on the Panhandle - Chart 23
Fish Bar Restaurant
New in Destin at 414 Harbor Blvd., just to the east of the long-time favorite, Marina Cafe, is the Fish Bar, specializing in Seafood, Spirits and Sports. They also have dockage for dining. You can pencil them in on Chart 23 with phone: 850-424-5566. They're open every day from 11 'til 11 with Happy Hours scheduled Monday-Friday from 11 to 7. There's a Sunday Brunch, too.
This building formerly housed the Flamingo and Chops restaurants
Hemingway's Island Grille
We've just discovered this fairly new place with a dock on Pensacola Beach in Quietwater Mall at the SE corner of the Pensacola Beach bridge. Lots of "island" flavor on the menu with beautiful specialty drinks. Phone is 850 934-4747.
A bit of history ... on the wall is a blown-up copy of the order for Hemingway's 38' twin cabin, built by Wheeler Shipyard in Brooklyn dated 4/18/34. Pilar's cost seems to have come in just under $7,500 including delivery to South Florida. The signatures of Ernest Hemingway and Eugene Wheeler appear at the bottom.
CREW UNLIMITED's NEW OFFICE
Crew Unlimited has moved to their brand new office at 1069 SE 17th Street Causeway, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. It's in the plaza with Smallwoods, Waxy O'Conners and Village Well. NEW (OLD) NAME for KEY WEST's OCEANSIDE MARINA
In the beginning ... and most recently, it was and has been King's Pointe Marina, but the Stock Island marina has gone through a few name changes, ending up again as Oceanside Marina. The phone number as on Chart 15 still works, but you may want to change the name on the chart listing on page 92 in the current FCD.

Palm Coast Marina
We recently visited Palm Coast Marina (Chart 3) and sure enuf ... the place was immaculate and we could tell those dock ladies were true to their task. In fact, Rosine McCauley, assistant to Debbie Hogan, took the photo of Debbie, armed with cleaning tools, going about her job for the Dockmaster Speaks feature on page 38 in the new FCD.
When we were there, Rosine excused herself from our conversation to go back to cleaning the store's bird cage. It almost goes without saying: Palm Coast Marina is one of Florida's designated Clean Marinas.
NEWEST DESIGNATED FLORIDA CLEAN MARINA
Palm Harbor Marina, West Palm Beach, has been certified as a Clean Marina by the Florida DEP. Just south of the Flagler Bridge, the newly renovated marina has 200 slips, a state-of-the-art concrete floating dock system, high-speed fuel pumps, in-slip pumpout services, security and single- and three-phase power. "We went above and beyond the requirements and did things right from the start..." marina manager John Smundin said in a statement.
