MARQUARDT'S MEXICO BEACH MARINA HAS NEW NAME, NEW OWNER

The new owner of the former Marquardt's Marina has a new name for it: Mexico Beach Marina. Phone is the same as on Chart 22.

That's not to be confused with the long-time City of Mexico Beach's marina which remains in place, similarly named. The City Harbormaster's phone number is also on Chart 22.

OUTBOARD FISHING TOURNAMENTS

MarineMax's new tournament for outboards-only began with four Florida tournaments during July; the one remaining takes place in Gulf Shores Alabama  on August 13.

REPEATING IN AUGUST: FORT PIERCE CITY MARINA ANNOUNCES LOWERED SUMMER RATES

Reduced Summer Rates for dockage go into effect on June 1 through September 30. Free WiFi remains, as does the on-site every Saturday morning Farmer's Market from 8 'til noon. The Jazz Society's Arts & Crafts Market is immediately to the west ... same time every Saturday.

Other downtown attractions right in the neighborhood include the Historical Sunrise Theatre, shops, restaurants and museums.

HISTORY OF DIVING MUSEUM

The not-for-profit museum, located at MM 83 Bayside in Islamorada (Phone: 305-664-9737) is open daily, 10AM-5PM and schedules the following: Sea Hunt, the original TV Series with Lloyd Bridges is shown every Saturday between 3 and 5 PM and a Comprehensive safe boating course under the instruction of a USCG Master Captain is presented FREE to Monroe County Students on the first Sunday of every month. (Donations are appreciated from all others.) Classes are scheduled from 10:30AM-12:30PM and prospective students should register by phone at 305-664-9737.
August 17- Museum co-founder Dr. Sally Bauer will present a free program: Bells to Brass: The Development of the Diving Helmet at 7 PM.

ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION TIME

September 3rd is the 6th Anniversary of the Museum. Celebration plans include free admission to the first 200 people, family activities, a silent auction, special guided tours and more.

REPEATING IN AUGUST: Through September 5, Labor Day weekend, active military personnel and up to 5 members of each family are offered free admission as part of the Museum's participation in the Blue Star Museums program.  Check this out HERE.

NEW SAILING/POWERBOATING COMBINATION IN ST. PETE BUSINESS

Johnson Sails, Inc., long-known as JSI, is rebranding its retail store with the name Island Nautical. The St. Petersburg company traditionally catered to the local sailboat industry and sailors, but the newly-named store will offer services and equipment for powerboaters as well. (The manufacturing side of the business will retain the JSI name.)

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA YACHTS has added a 50-foot Wright Power Cat to its charter fleet. Albino Wino is docked with 11 other power cruisers in the fleet at Marinatown Marina in North Fort Myers. The company's sailing charter fleet is based at Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda.
