NOTICE TO NAVIGATION INTERESTS, 19 September 2011
The Temporary September Lock Closures announced in August for the Okeechobee Waterway have been postponed 'til Summer of 2012. Moore Haven and Ortona Locks will remain open.
A public forum will be held in April ... watch here for that news or contact the COE for more information. The Jacksonville District site is www.saj.usace.army.mil. Choose Operations Division and select Notice to Navigation from the pull down menu. Point of contact is the South Florida Operations Office at 863-983-8101.
REPEATING IN OCTOBER: NOTICE TO NAVIGATION INTERESTS, 23 May, 2011 / OKEECHOBEE WATERWAY
Due to declines in water surface stages in Lake Okeechobee Waterway (OWW), mariners are strongly advised that lock restrictions should be taken into consideration whether transiting the Lake or stopping for recreational activities such as fishing. The Notice to Navigation Interests of June 24 explains that most of the south Florida region is experiencing low water conditions and advises mariners that if crossing the Lake they are doing so at their own risk. The warning adds that they should not leave the Route 1 channel and should avoid uncharted waters. Depths could change without notice.

USACOE, Jacksonville District, has closed St. Lucie South Campground boat ramp due to low water levels. Mariners are strongly advised to monitor lake levels and vessel draft for both Route 1 and Route 2.
FLORIDA - ST. JOHNS RIVER - FEC RAILROAD BRIDGE. Bridge Closure.
The FEC Railroad Bridge across the St. Johns River, mile 24.9, Jacksonville, Florida will be closed to navigation from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from November 1 through November 30, 2011. There will be an opening for mariners to pass between 12 noon and 1:30 PM daily.
