The Coast Guard has already announced some bridge opening restrictions because of July 4th weekend festivities. Check in your local area to make sure your boat will be able to get you to your favorite fireworks display!

June 28 note from Michael Lieberum, Chief of Operations Section, Seventh Coast Guard District Bridge Branch re: NE 14th Street Bridge Closure, Pompano Beach.

The bridge owner is currently working with the producers of the production The Glades and will be requesting a bridge closure on Thursday July 7 or Friday July 8 from 9 PM to 5 AM. A Broadcast Notice to Mariners is planned for when the date is determined.

FLORIDA BRIDGE INFORMATION

OKEECHOEBEE WATERWAY (SOUTH FORK) ST. LUCIE CANAL - INDIAN STREET BRIDGE. Bridge Construction.

Construction on Indian Street Bridge across the south fork of the St. Lucie Canal has started on a portion of the bridge that crosses the St. Lucie Lagoon. A temporary trestle and floating turbidity barrier is in the area, expected to continue through June. The contractor will provide additional information prior to starting the portion of the bridge that crosses the South Fork.

OKEECHOEBEE WATERWAY (SOUTH FORK) ST. LUCIE CANAL - OLD ROOSEVELT (DIXIE HWY.) BRIDGE. Bridge Repairs.

The bridge owner plans on painting the Old Roosevelt (Dixie Hwy.) bridge across the (South Fork) St. Lucie Canal mile 7.5 Stuart. The CG will be working with the bridge owner; dates to be announced as soon as they are determined.

ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY - WEST PALM BEACH TO MIAMI - (SR 706) JUPITER - (INDIANTOWN ROAD) BRIDGE.

Due to painting operations, the SR 706 (Indiantown Road) Bridge AIW mile 1006.2, Jupiter, Palm Beach County, Florida the operating schedule will be changed starting June 20 as follows:

The Indiantown Road bridge will be allowed to remain closed to navigation from: 7:05AM to 10:55AM daily, seven days a week through August 30, 2011. 9:05 PM to 5:55AM nightly for a period of 30 days. The start date of this portion of the operation will be published in a future LNM. At all other times the bridge will open on the hour at the top of the hour. Due to scaffolding the vertical clearance will be reduced by three feet through August 30, 2011.

ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY - WEST PALM BEACH TO MIAMI - WEST PALM BEACH - LAKE AVENUE (ROBERT HARRIS) BRIDGE. Bridge Painting.
Bridge work will start on July 5. Due to painting, this bridge's operating schedule will be changed starting July 5 as follows: 7:05 AM to 10:55AM daily, seven days a week through December and 9:05 PM to 5:55AM nightly for a period of 30 days. Start date fort this portion of the operation has not been scheduled but will be published in a future LNM. At all other times the bridge will open on the hour at the top of the hour. Due to scaffolding, the vertical clearance will be reduced by three feet from July 5 through December.

GULF INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY - SAN CARLOS BAY - MATLACHA PASS BRIDGE.

MATLACHA PASS BRIDGE construction continues as reported in the current FCD (Chart 18) and recent updates. Contractors have advised that a barge will be blocking the channel for 2 to 3 days in a row in July. The schedule will be posted on the Lee County web site - http:www.matlachabridge.info where there are continual updates. Caution is suggested. Other closures are being  scheduled for August and November/December. Those will be published in future LNMs and duly noted on these pages as well.
