PINELLAS COUNTY NEWS for DIVERS
Pinellas County has announced that a 40-foot, steel-hull sailboat has been added to the Treasure Island II reef. It was donated by a local non-profit group, Fishbuilders Foundation, Inc., and was placed in 100’ of water on April 3.
The reef (established in January ’04) is located 26.6 nautical miles west of Johns Pass (Lat 27°41.757’, Long 83°17.520’) and is home to three other marine vessels.
The county reminds us that they have 14 reef sites, 3 to 38 miles offshore. One is in Tampa Bay north of The Pier in St Petersburg with the remaining in the Gulf of Mexico. For more information on county services and programs visit www.pinellascounty.org.

The LEE COUNTY NAUTICAL FLEA MARKET & BBQ FESTIVAL takes place June 16 & 17 (9 'til 6) at the German America Club, 2101 SW Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral. GREEN COVE SPRINGS MARINA has a new web site … gcsmarina.com. Take a look to get the “flavor” of the place. The web site calls the yard “Friendly & Affordable.” Looks like a “Fun” place to be!
Palatka’s CRYSTAL COVE RESORT & MARINA – (formerly The Moorings) is under new ownership and management with their new name. Hotel remodeling has begun and many improvements are already evident. Yet-to-come is a new restaurant. The marina and fuel dock are open, only gas is currently available. To contact the resort and/or the marina call 386-238-4000.

You can jot it down on Chart 17, page 95 in your FCD. The City of Pahokee is owner of the marina and the on-site management (headed up by Matt) also runs the KOA campground. The fuel dock there is not yet in operation.
MIAMI WATERFRONT RESTAURANT NEWS
The newly renovated Rusty Pelican (305-361-3818) has reopened on the Rickenbacker Causeway at the marina there and is being joined by the brand new Whiskey Joe's, scheduled for May Grand Opening. (We have not received an exact date ... or phone number.)
