TOWERS BACK FROM BAHAMAS CRUISE

Capt. Bob and First Mate Ginny Tower have returned to Florida after a wonderful Abacos Cruise. They had a good time, saw old friends, made new ones and dined at Mangoes in Marsh Harbour - where they noticed that we have incorrectly placed "Hope Town" in their listing on page 20 in print. At least we know that with all the fun they were having, they were still watching for needed corrections in the FCD!

BOAT SHOWS & NAUTICAL FLEA MARKETS

The 46th annual Tampa Boat Show is scheduled for September 9 - 11 at the Convention Center. Show starts at 10AM each day, closes at 8PM on Friday and Saturday, 6PM on Sunday. Besides the boats, there will be seminars, clinics and other attractions.

The Florida Marine Flea Market & Seafood  Festival is set for September 16-18 at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach.

The 52nd Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is set for October 27 - 31. This year's show takes place at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, Hall of Fame Marina, Las Olas Municipal Marina, Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina and the Broward County Convention Center. REPEATING IN SEPTEMBER: FORT PIERCE CITY MARINA ANNOUNCES LOWERED SUMMER RATES

Reduced Summer Rates for dockage are in effect through September 30. Free WiFi remains, as does the on-site every Saturday morning Farmer's Market from 8 'til noon. The Jazz Society's Arts & Crafts Market is immediately to the west ... same time every Saturday.

Other downtown attractions right in the neighborhood include the Historical Sunrise Theatre, shops, restaurants and museums.

HISTORY OF DIVING MUSEUM

The not-for-profit museum, located at MM 83 Bayside in Islamorada (Phone: 305-664-9737) is open daily, 10AM-5PM and schedules the following: Sea Hunt, the original TV Series with Lloyd Bridges is shown every Saturday between 3 and 5 PM and a Comprehensive safe boating course under the instruction of a USCG Master Captain is presented FREE to Monroe County Students on the first Sunday of every month. (Donations are appreciated from all others.) Classes are scheduled from 10:30AM-12:30PM and prospective students should register by phone at 305-664-9737.

ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION TIME

September 3rd is the 6th Anniversary of the Museum. Celebration plans include free admission to the first 200 people, family activities, a silent auction, special guided tours and more.

The silent auction goes from 10AM - 6PM. Museum remains open 'til 7PM.

1PM - Presentation of the Joe Bauer Memorial Award.

1:30PM - Mark V Suit-Up Raffle ($10/ticket)

Guided Tours with Museum co-founder will be at 11AM, 2:30PM and 4:30PM. Please RSVP/$5. (Free admission for Centennial Bank Customers)

REPEATING IN SEPTEMBER: Through September 5, Labor Day weekend, active military personnel and up to 5 members of each family are offered free admission as part of the Museum's participation in the Blue Star Museums program. ENVIRONMENTAL LEARNING CENTER

The Vero Beach ELC has advised that they're having their Annual Sale at the Nature Nook gift shop from September 1 - 30. Also, Students in grades 6 - 8  who wish to volunteer as Junior Interpreters should apply by September 22. More details on that on their site: www.DiscoverELC.org which usually shows their  schedule of events. They offer several guided trips by boat if you choose to drive over.
